The young natural cosmetics startup 'TocoCare' commissioned us to design the appearance of their brand and the packaging design of their products.
TocoCare's natural cosmetics are based on the active ingredient tocotrienol, a high-dose and natural vitamin E, which is characterised by a particularly strong antioxidant, i.e. the high binding power of free radicals in the cells.
The starting point for the appearance is a rationally designed type-logo, which together with the two fonts 'Aperçu' and 'Caslon' forms the classic basic structure of the brand, reminiscent of old pharmacy goods. Illustrations of the consistently plant-based ingredients contrast with this appearance as loosening elements.
However, the core of the appearance is the design of the packaging. The small falcons, made of dark brown glass, have the charms of old pharmacy products. The two screen-printed colors white and pastel-pink enable the user to differentiate between the products in their domestic cosmetic cabinet.
The packaging is the tricky part. Here we decided on uncoated and unbleached cardboard of the brand 'Kraftpack'.
Instead of printing on the smooth outside, like initially intended by the manufacturer, we rather went inside-out. The rough but velvety structure of the inside just had the perfect touch. This enabled us to add the desired haptic component to the packaging, which nicely underlines the naturalness of the cosmetic. The irregularities in the structure could also be mastered very well via offset printing. Almost like whitewashed wood, the unevenness of the material works through the opaque white of the printed pattern and rounds off the overall impression of the natural cosmetic of 'TocoCare'.
